Ever since the coronavirus impacted our world, our lifestyles have changed majorly. Many of us are confined to our homes and forced to find ways to keep busy.
My days have been filled with school, writing, reading, exercise, true crime podcasts, and more reading.
In regards to writing news. . . I’ve finished a short story, and I’m currently working on a few writing projects–including plotting a crime novel. That’s all I can say for now, but more news to come.
Today, I thought I’d let you in on the entertainments keeping me busy during this time.
📚 LITERATURE 📚
The Book Thief, Markus Zusak
After watching the movie version of this riveting novel, a couple of months, I picked up a copy and started reading it. I love it. Nazi Germany has always intrigued me and this novel happens to be set in that time period. The characters are spectacular and it possesses a very interesting narrator–Death. I’ll be reviewing this book in the near future, so stay tuned. 😉
A Study in Scarlet, Sir Arthur Connon Doyle
I’ve always been obsessed with Sherlock. His brilliant mind and ability to observe and deduce fascinates me. And this novel–a classic–is no exception.
🎭 ENTERTAINMENT 🎭
Pirates of the Caribbean #1
Ahh, where can I start?! I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie! Pirates! Damsels-in-distress! Witty lines! And Captain Jack Sparrow. . . his sass is amusing, savvy? This film quickly climbed my list of favorite movies. 🏴☠️
Sherlock (TV Series)
Because of my admiration for Sherlock Holmes (see above), I decided to give the modern TV Series Sherlock a spin. I’ve finished the first season of it and I’m hooked. Intriguing and morbid are two words to explain it. Right up my alley. 😜
Phantom of the Opera (Royal Albert Hall)
I discovered The Phantom of the Opera soundtrack awhile back and because of my love for musicals, the songs floated into my playlists. When I saw that Royal Albert Hall was providing a recording of the play for free–Coronavirus kindness–for 24 hours only, I snatched it up. The stunningly beautiful voices and mysterious story plot captivated me. It was a fantastic performance.
🎵 MUSIC 🎵
My playlists ring with everything from Jazz to Musical soundtracks. Classical has been quite calming to listen to as well. As for wordy music. . . Avi Kaplan’s new album remains my monthly favorite.
✨ CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT ✨
Honestly, reading Peanuts comics is one of the only ways I’m surviving quarantine. Schroeder has always been my favorite Peanuts character; I love his dry humor and cool demeanor. And his interactions with Lucy have offered amusement for nearly a century. Perhaps it’s time people revisit these classics?
