Why I Write + Take My Survey

It’s time to dive into the reasons for why I write. There are many wonderful aspects of writing, and I’ve really grown as a person from it. It has helped me see the world from new angles and find beauty in simple things.

My thoughts have resulted in this notion: My word is my weapon, and the world–a battlefield.

I write to impact the world. Regardless of how foolish it sounds, words possess the power to influence society. They have the ability to ease pain and soften even the hardest of hearts. Words are necessary for humankind to communicate–I don’t know what we’d do without them.

They have the strength to shape society, to challenge the status quo, and to shine light into the darkest of places.

We wouldn’t exist without words; words breathe life.

I write to articulate my thoughts. Flannery O’Connor, an American novelist, once said, “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.”

Because I am an introspective person with a very complex mind (it’s like a library attic), writing gives me the freedom to process my thoughts on page. It helps me contemplate topics on a deeper level, without having to communicate them verbally.

I enjoy pouring my musings and ponderings into this blog. . . and I look forward to continuing this this year.

I write to encourage others. I don’t want to write solely for the entertainment of others; I want to move them. To help others decipher literature and face life with hope. To seek the truth. To shed light.

I write to help YOU. I want my writing to serve YOU. And, dear reader, I hope it does.

If I ever had a motto. . . it would be this poem by Emily Dickinson.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain:
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

– Emily Dickinson

So yes, though my writing journey is far from finished. . . I hope to stop one heart from breaking and ease one life the aching. Even if I just encourage one person with my writing, I shall not live in vain.

The second-half of 2020 is rolling in, and I’ve got a lot of exciting blog content planned! But. . . I need YOUR help! I want to find out how I can better serve YOU with my blog. (:
